The parent voice of Lisgar Collegiate Institute

Please join us for the first school council meeting of the year—including elections— on Monday, September 13, 2010.

New and returning parents are invited to join us in the Lisgar Library at 7pm for a meet-and-greet (with refreshments). The meeting proper will commence at 7:30. All Lisgar parents and guardians are eligible to stand for School Council. Please consider doing so!

Lisgar School Council’s primary goal is to connect with as many Lisgar parents as possible, and to offer them a conduit for speaking to the school and the board. We encourage all parents to attend our meetings and get involved. This could mean joining Council, or simply helping out with our multicultural potluck, our staff appreciation luncheon, Lisgar Lectures, Doors Open Ottawa, or issues that affect schools boardwide. We meet monthly, with a schedule that rotates through Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays (see schedule at left).

LSC also maintains an email list of parents and guardians, which we use approximately once per month to keep our families apprised of events and ongoing issues. You may opt out via the beginning-of-year forms, if you prefer. Or you may subscribe or unsubscribe on this web site using the link at left or by emailing secretary@lisgar.net. The role of a secondary school council differs from its elementary counterpart. High school students are more independent and less likely to reliably convey information home from school. By attending a school council meeting, you will learn things that otherwise might never reach your ears.

See you on September 13!
